The Lower Gate in Gundelfingen an der Donau , a town in the Swabian district of Dillingen an der Donau ( Bavaria ), is part of the former town fortifications . The city ​​gate at Professor-Bamann-Straße 1 is a protected architectural monument .

The five-storey building (height 35 m) on a square floor plan stands at the southeast corner of the medieval city. The archway serves as a passage for the road to Lauingen starting from the market square . In the passage there is an arched barrel, on the field side there is an arched limestone block . The arch is chamfered in the upper part and has small masks on the outside of the chamfers. The walls of the gate tower are plastered, on the lower part boss blocks are visible under the plaster . On the top two floors there are two glare fields each outside and inside, each with a window with a shutter on each floor. On the field side, a keel arch panel is attached at medium height, which is provided with a modern city coat of arms made of tiles.

The curved tent roof with a square lantern rises above the profiled eaves cornice . The onion hood is crowned by a wind vane . On both sides there are roof bays with corner pilasters and semicircular gables over the cornice . In the lantern there is a bell with an inscription.

On the north side of the gate there is an extension with stairs.
