Like a Virgin is a song by Madonna from 1984 that was previously released as the first single from the album of the same name . The single was number one on the US charts for six weeks.

history

Like a Virgin was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly , who two years later also wrote Cyndi Lauper's hit True Colors , and was released on October 31, 1984. The single was able to place in the charts in numerous countries; in the United States , it held first place for six weeks from December 22, 1984 to January 26, 1985 and sold over a million copies.

"When Madonna recorded the song, you could hear Tom in the fade-out of our demo say" When your heart beats, and you hold me, and you love me ... ".
