Q is a British music and entertainment magazine from the Bauer Media Group . It appears monthly and is also sold in the German train station press trade.

history

Mark Ellen and David Hepworth founded the magazine in 1986 out of desperation about the state of the music press, which they felt only served a very young generation and ignored such musicians and bands as Paul Simon , Level 42 or Dire Straits . The Rolling Stone served as a model . It also differed from the other music magazines in terms of its monthly publication and higher print quality. Initially, the subtitle was: " The modern guide to music and more " ('The modern guide to music and more'). The name was originally supposed to be Cue ( English, among other things, for setting the record needle in the correct position on the record), but to avoid confusion with a snooker magazine, it was changed to 'Q'.

Lists are typical for the magazine, from the 100 Greatest Albums to the 100 Greatest Rock Lists . Monthly issues that are dedicated to certain topics appear more frequently, e.g. B. certain genres, famous musicians or important epochs.
