Mojo (magazine)

Mojo is a British music magazine from the Bauer Media Group . It was first launched in November 1993 and appears monthly. In addition, Mojo special editions are published that are dedicated to a specific artist or topic. It is one of the most important music magazines in the English language, dealing with pop and rock music even beyond the charts and appealing to an older readership. It is available worldwide and is also used by many music lovers and the like. a. read in Germany, where it can be obtained from station bookshops and by subscription.

history

With the success of Q magazine , Emap's editors began looking for a title similar to Rolling Stone magazine that would serve the growing interest in classic rock music of the 1960s and 1970s. The origin of the title refers to the song by Muddy Waters Got My Mojo Working, known in rhythm & blues circles . The first cover stars were Bob Dylan and John Lennon . The comprehensive presentation of the history of popular performers as well as less well-known and / or sales-oriented cult music performers proved to be successful and drew imitation magazines such as Blender and Uncut with a similar concept. In 2004 the Mojo Honors List was introduced, an award ceremony based on judgments by critics and readers.
