Holiday is a song by Madonna from the year 1983 , which was written by Curtis Hudson and Lisa Stevens. It appeared on Madonna's first album . Stylistically, Holiday is a mixture of dance pop , synth pop and funk . It is written in D major .

history

In 1982 Madonna started recording her first album. The first two releases Everybody and Burning Up did not achieve the desired success. Madonna's international breakthrough came with Holiday . Hudson and Stevens originally wrote the song for Mary Wilson of the Supremes , but she turned it down and Madonna accepted it. Before that, the last minute Ain't No Big Deal should also be on the album. After accepting Holiday , Madonna worked with producer John "Jellybean" Benitez on the recording of the song. They added some instrumentation. The piano solo is by Fred Zarr. After the release, the hit received a lot of positive criticism. Madonna played the hit at practically every concert, including in July 1985 she played the song at the Live Aid Festival. After the re-release in 1985, Holiday was particularly successful in the UK and neighboring countries.
