Dear Jessie is a song by the American pop singer Madonna . The piece was released on December 10, 1989 as the fifth single of their studio album Like a Prayer only in Australia , the United Kingdom and a few other European countries.

background

Madonna was inspired to write the song by the daughter of the same name of co-author Patrick Leonard . During the 1989 Christmas season, the single reached number five in the UK with 250,769 units sold.

The chorus of the song was used in 1999 for the single Dear Jessie by the German Eurodance project Rollergirl .

Music video

The music video was produced by Animation City in London and directed by Derek Hayes. An animated fairy is shown in the video . Maddy Sparrow was the producer and the cartoonists were Neville Astley, Jimmy Farrington, Andy Goff, Malcolm Hartley, Derek Hayes, Erica Russell and Alison Snowden . The video is included on the 1990 She's Breathless video album .
