Alison Snowden

Alison Snowden (born April 4, 1958 in Arnold near Nottingham ) is a British animator , film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Snowden grew up in Arnold, a suburb of Nottingham. She first completed a degree in graphics at Mansfield Art College (basic course) and Lanchester Polytechnic in Coventry , from which she graduated with a degree in graphic design. She then attended the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield , where she met the Canadian David Fine . Snowden, who concentrated on the feature film sector during her four year studies, came into contact with the work of the NFB through Fine and began working in the animation film sector. Her graduation film at NFTS was the short animation film Second Class Mail in 1984 , which was nominated for an Oscar in 1985 .

After completing their training, Snowden and Fine moved to Canada and worked at the NFB until 1989. As "Snowden and Fine" both created various short animated films, including the Oscar nominated George and Rosemary and In and Out . You returned to London in 1989 and initially worked in the advertising film sector. This was followed in 1994 by the short animated film Bob's Birthday, which won an Oscar . Bob's Birthday eventually led to the 52-part animated television series Bob and Margaret , which played in the UK (seasons 1 and 2) and Canada (seasons 3 and 4) and was created from 1998 to 2001. Snowden worked on scripts for Mark Baker's Peppa Pig from 2004 to 2007 ; Together with Fine, she was involved in the development of the Shaun the Sheep series in 2007 . Her animated series Ricky Sprocket, Showbiz Boy started in 2007, but was discontinued in 2008.

Together with Fine, she directed the short film Animal Behavior , for which she was nominated again for an Oscar in 2019.

Snowden and Fine are married with one daughter. Both have lived in Vancouver, Canada since 2005.
