Second Class Mail is a 1984 British animated short film directed by Alison Snowden .
action
An old woman brings a letter to the post office. A little later, the package that came with the letter arrives: It's an inflatable pensioner. She puts him on the couch and puts a pipe and a coffee cup in his hand. She sits down next to him and suddenly gives him a big hug. The camera pans to the exterior of the house. You hear a bang. A short time later, the woman takes the limp inflator to the garbage can and returns to the house.

Second Class Mail was Alison Snowden's thesis at the UK's National Film and Television School in 1984 . In the credits , Snowden thanks Mark Baker and Nick Park, among others, for their support and for coloring the film.
Awards
Second Class Mail received the Ottawa International Animation Festival Audience Award in 1984 .
The film was nominated in 1986 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ", but could not prevail against Anna & Bella .
