Marc Anthony
Marc Anthony (born September 16, 1968 in New York ; actually Marco Antonio Muñiz ) is an American composer , singer and actor .
Youth and private life
Marc Anthony was born to Puerto Rican parents in Spanish Harlem , New York , and grew up with seven siblings. It owes its name to his mother's preference for the Mexican singer Marco Antonio Muñiz , who just happens to have the same surname. To avoid confusion, he adopted the stage name "Marc Anthony". At the age of seven he is said to have attended a music academy in East Harlem in addition to school, at twelve he sang in the background choir of the Latin Rascals and later with the teen boy group Menudo. Then he appeared as a rock singer in various music clubs. He also starred in feature films such as El sustituto , Big Night and Hackers and also appeared in the Broadway production The Capeman .
In 2009, Anthony bought himself into the Miami Dolphins football team . On May 10, 2000, he married the Puerto Rican Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in Las Vegas , with whom he has two children. The marriage was divorced on June 5, 2004; five days later he married the singer and actress Jennifer Lopez in Los Angeles . On February 22, 2008, Anthony and Lopez became parents to twins, a girl and a boy. In July 2011 the couple separated; in June 2014 they were divorced. In the same year he married the Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima, from whom he separated in November 2016.
Career
Marc Anthony's career as an English-speaking rhythm and blues and rock singer was initially only crowned with moderate success. In 1992 he was invited by the percussionist Tito Puente to open a festival in his honor in Madison Square Garden . In the same year he recorded the duet Vivir lo nuestro with La India . From then on he devoted himself increasingly to salsa music . The breakthrough came in 1999 when he received the Grammy in the category “Best Tropical Latin Performance” for his album Contra la corriente . With his single I Need to Know , which was produced in an English and a Spanish version for marketing reasons, he landed a double success in 2000: he received a Grammy nomination for the English version, while the Spanish version won Dímelo the Latino Grammy has been. Anthony writes most of his pieces himself.
