Marco Antonio Muñiz

Marco Antonio Muñiz (born March 3, 1933 in Guadalajara ) is a Mexican singer.

At the age of thirteen, Muñiz appeared in Armando Soto La Marina's young talent show El Chicote in Juárez. In 1947 he became a member of the orchestra of Manuel Gil Lavadores in his hometown . In 1951 he came to XEW as secretary to Rosario Patiña , for which musicians such as Pedro Infante , Jorge Negrete , Pedro Vargas , José Alfredo Jiménez , Amparo Montes , Agustín Lara , Tin Tán and Francisco Gabilondo Soler worked at the time. At the same time he founded the Trio Los Tres Ases with Juan Neri and Héctor González , which soon grew into a sextet called Fantasía .

In 1960 he began his successful career as a soloist with Luz y sombra . In the following year he released his first solo album Escándalo and went on his first concert tour to Puerto Rico , where he soon became as popular as in his home country. Several films were made in 1962: La Bandida (with María Félix ), Dos gallos y dos gallinas (with María Duval ) and Los apuros de dos gallos . In 1964 he went on a concert tour of Latin America , the USA and Spain .

Muñiz honored his hometown in 1983 as Hijo distinguido , and in 1986 he received the title of Mr. Amigo (for which he was congratulated by the US President Ronald Reagan ). At the Primera Cumbra Hispanoamericana 1991 he appeared before the Spanish king and twenty-one presidents. In 1996 he celebrated his 50th stage anniversary in the Palacio de Bellas Artes . In 2003, Muñiz released his seventieth album. After he was already known as El Embajador del Romanticismo and El Lujo de Mexico , he was honored in Nuevo León 2009 for his life's work as El Lujo del Continente . His son Jorge Muñiz was also known as a singer.
