Lil Pump (born August 17, 2000 in Miami Gardens , Florida ; civil Gazzy Garcia ) is an American rapper and songwriter . He became popular in 2017 with publications on the online music service Soundcloud . His songs D Rose , Gucci Gang and I Love It achieved great fame .

career

Adolescent years

When Garcia was 14 years old, his cousin introduced him to Omar Pineiro - better known by his stage name Smokepurpp ; the two began to record music together. Both have been repeatedly expelled from their schools. Garcia, who later attended an alternative education high school , was expelled from tenth grade after instigating brawls and rioting several times .

Beginnings

Garcia's first track, Lil Pump , a freestyle rap song, was released on Soundcloud in 2015. The singles Elementary , Ignorant , Gang Shit and Drum $ tick soon followed . To date, these have each reached over three million streams . The success of Garcia's releases on Soundcloud brought the rapper to prominence in the rap scene. Garcia took part in the No Jumper Tour in 2016 .

Increasing awareness

In 2017, the rapper released the singles D Rose in cooperation with Paul Zedad and Boss , which together were played more than 70 million times on Soundcloud. In response to the great success around D Rose , a music video was released for the song . In June 2017, two months before his 17th birthday, Garcia signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records . In August of that year, the song Gucci Gang was released, which reached third place on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 8, 2017.

On October 6, 2017 Garcia was first commercialized Mixtape Lil pumping published on among others Gucci Mane , Lil yachty , Lil Paoli , Chief Keef , Rick Ross and 2 Chainz as featurings are represented.

Controversy

Garcia came into conflict with police in February 2018 after firing shots in his apartment. Garcia testified that the bullets came from intruders who shot through his door. However, pictures from surveillance cameras showed that there had never been any intruders and that the shots were fired from the inside out. As part of the incident, a house search was ordered, during which officials were able to recover significant quantities of marijuana . Garcia was then sent to a juvenile detention center, which he was allowed to leave after a few days. Garcia's mother, who owns the gun, was charged with violating her duty of supervision.

After Garcia got into a police stop in Miami while driving without a valid driver's license and incorrect license plate number , he was temporarily arrested . Against paying a small fine of allegedly 500 US dollars Garcia was released from custody.

reception

Laut.de calls Garcia's music “milestones in brainlessness”. Lil Pump's works are “reduced to a minimum” and “radical and uncompromising rubbish”. You search in vain for “musically complex or ambitious moments”, but you can “easily recognize half of the tracks after listening to them among thousands”.
