I Love It is a song by American rappers Kanye West and Lil Pump that features guest vocals by comedian Adele Givens . It was released on September 7, 2018 via GOOD Music , Warner Bros. and Def Jam .

background

Kanye West was the creative director of the first Pornhub Awards on September 6, 2018. After a live performance with Teyana Taylor , West presented the music video for I Love It , a new song with Lil Pump. Similar to I'm In It and XTCY , it is a song with clearly explicit sexual content.

On September 7, 2018, a slightly more harmless version was released under the title I Love It (Freaky Girl Edit) in the iTunes Store . These played Kanye West and Lil Pump on Saturday Night Live on September 29th , but the two slipped out some swear words. Lil Pump's appearance came as a surprise as he was supposed to be in jail for violating his probation.

The song also appeared on Lil Pump's second studio album, The Harverd Dropout .

production

The song was even by West with DJ Clark Kent and CBMix produced, with additional production by Ronny J . The lyrics were written by West, Lil Pump and the American rapper Smokepurpp .

Music video

The music video for the single premiered at the 2018 Pornhub Awards . West and Lil Pump wear huge, rectangular body suits in the shape of a box, which are reminiscent of characters from the video game Roblox . You walk through a corridor with moving statues of women on the walls and chase a tall woman.

The video was produced by Spike Jonze as executive production and directed by West and Amanda Adelson . The music video reached in the first week after the release of the world 76 million views on YouTube , surpassing This Is America by Childish Gambino as the fastest success of hip-hop videos in the first week after the release on YouTube. The video has currently been viewed over 359 million times.

It subsequently became a popular internet meme . In net culture , the representation in the music video was often associated with the computer games Roblox and Minecraft and produced some parodies . The network community also tried to imitate the music video using the hashtag #ILoveItChallenge.

Commercial win

I Love It debuted at number six in the US singles chart. It sold around 16,000 times in the week of its release. It was certified platinum on May 16, 2019 . In Austria, Switzerland, Germany and the United Kingdom, it was also in the top 10. It received a gold award in Great Britain. In Canada, it reached number 1 on the charts, making it West's third and Lil Pump's first number 1 hit .

controversy

On September 13, 2018, DJ David Morales West accused West of stealing the I Love It bass line from a remix of his 1991 song What Is This Thing Called Love . West's ex-girlfriend Amber Rose also complained on her Instagram on September 18 that he and Pump were inspired by their SlutWalk movement, but did not indicate it.
