Spike Jonze
Spike Jonze (* 22. October 1969 in Rockville, Maryland ; actually Adam Spiegel ) is an American film - and music video - director , film producer , actor , and Golden Globe - and Oscar -prämierter screenwriter .
Live and act
Jonze began his career as a director of music videos, including the Beastie Boys (e.g. Sabotage ) and Fatboy Slim (e.g. Weapon of Choice ). After two short film productions, he directed a feature film for the first time in 1999 : Being John Malkovich . The imaginative film, whose screenplay was written by Charlie Kaufman , who had previously only worked for television series , was a great success and garnered numerous international awards and three Oscar nominations, including those for screenplay and direction. For his second film, Adaptation - The Orchid Thief , Jonze worked again with Kaufman. He wrote himself and his (fictional) twin brother Donald as the main characters in the film, which is about the torments of a scriptwriter plagued by writer's block.
Jonze is also one of the creators of MTV - series Jackass and producer of the film to the series Jackass: The Movie . Currently he is u. a. creative director of the internet TV channel VBS.TV for Vice magazine . He is also a co-owner of the skateboard company Girl Skateboards .
In 1999 he played in the action film Three Kings at the side of George Clooney .
He is a distant relative of the founding family of the Spiegel catalog and mail order company in the USA , but contrary to popular opinion, he was not involved in their legacy. On June 26, 1999, he married his colleague, the director Sofia Coppola . The marriage ended in divorce in 2003.
For his screenplay for the film Her , he received the Oscar for best original screenplay at the 2014 Academy Awards .
Spike Jonze works under various pseudonyms , including a. Richard Koufey .
In 2020 he published a documentary about the Beastie Boys on Apple TV + .
