Apple TV + is a video-on-demand service that has been available since November 1, 2019. It should compete with Netflix , Amazon Prime Video and similar providers and only offer self-produced series and films . In the first year, Apple is expected to invest up to two billion US dollars in the production of its own content.

history

After it had been known for a long time that Apple was working on such a service, it was first presented at a press event on March 25, 2019. At this event, Apple showed short excerpts from the upcoming series and films.

Apple is currently working on content for the service with famous directors, actors, and other personalities. Oprah Winfrey , Steven Spielberg , JJ Abrams , Reese Witherspoon , Jennifer Aniston , Sofia Coppola and Octavia Spencer, among others, have been involved in projects related to the ministry.

In September 2019, Apple announced the service would initially cost $ 4.99 per month. The program can be received via an app that will not only appear for Apple devices. The service can be used on some smart TVs from Samsung, LG and Sony. Devices from Roku and Amazon's Fire TV are also supported.

With the release of the streaming service in the Apple TV app on November 1, 2019, German customers also had the opportunity to subscribe to the service for € 4.99. For buyers of an Apple device after September 10, 2019, the service was included in the purchase price for one year.
