The Kleine und Mittelleber is a 66.53 hectare nature reserve in the district of Teupitz in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg .
location
The FFH area is located west of the city center and there southeast of the Egsdorf district . To the north is the Mittenwald district of Töpchin . This is followed in a clockwise direction by the city center, the Mühlenfließ-Sägebach nature reserve , the other districts of Tornow and Neuendorf and the Zossen district of Lindenbrück with its municipality of Zesch am See .
history
The landscape in the protected area was created during the Vistula Ice Age . With the runoff of the meltwater, a gully formed that increasingly silted up and muddy. In the past few decades, however, the landscape has been shaped by the neighboring military training area in Wünsdorf . In the time of the GDR , a large part of the district was a restricted military area. Access was partially restricted. Large areas of the alder break forest have died as a result of interventions in the water balance . The area was placed under protection with effect from June 9, 1995. The area got its name from two silted lakes, the Klein Leber and the Mittel Leber.
Flora and fauna
A bog forest has formed in the area, which is bordered by pine trees. Transitional and vibrating turf bogs have formed in the moist depressions . In addition to the otter, the great fire butterfly and the great moss damsel are under special protection .
