Location of the nature reserve in the areas of the communities Rangsdorf and Blankenfelde-Mahlow

The Zülowgrabenniederung nature reserve is a small nature reserve in the districts of Rangsdorf , Klein Kienitz (both commune Rangsdorf), Dahlewitz and Groß Kienitz (both commune Blankenfelde-Mahlow ). It covers approx. 113 hectares and was designated on November 25, 2002 by the Teltow-Fläming district ( Brandenburg ).

location

The nature reserve is about 10 to 15 km south of the Berlin city limits in the northern part of the Teltow-Fläming district. It extends from the Wiesengrund in Rangsdorf (the Machnower See nature reserve begins on the other side of the road ), on both sides of the Zülowgraben up to the development, including the small Zülowseen in the lowland west of the B 96 ; continue under the B 96 and along the Zülowgraben to the A 10 motorway (Berliner Ring). North of the autobahn, it continues on both sides of the Zülowgraben to the northeast, almost to the industrial area Groß Kienitz. There it turns to the northwest and stretches just up to the L 402, which leads from Dahlewitz to Groß Kienitz.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve consists essentially of a narrow valley gully that leads from the Teltow base moraine to Lake Machnower . It serves to protect and preserve

  • Wild plant communities, in particular characteristic and rare, threatened communities of peat cuttings, bog forests, alder-ash forests, pedunculate oak-hornbeam forests, willow bushes, reeds, sedge reeds, moist high herbaceous meadows and wet meadows as well
  • wild animal species, in particular the otter; a breeding bird fauna typical of rivers and still waters, well-structured forest locations and wetlands with rare species that are threatened or susceptible to disturbance; various amphibian and reptile species that are mainly threatened in their population.

In addition, the Bachtal should be preserved, as it is a relatively rare geomorphological structure in the old district of Zossen and also has an important function in the biotope network.
