The Rangsdorfer See nature reserve is a 670 hectare nature reserve set up in 1998 on the western shore of the Rangsdorfer See in the state of Brandenburg in the Federal Republic of Germany . As an important part of the regional biotope network, it is a separate part of the European bird sanctuary Nuthe-Nieplitz-Niederung .

The protected area is one to five kilometers south of the federal highway 10 and four to six kilometers west of the federal highway 96 in the communities of Rangsdorf (east), Glienick (south), Groß Schulzendorf (west) and Jühnsdorf (north).

Protection purpose

The nature reserve has been established for the purpose of preserving and developing the area. It is administered by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation .

fauna

The protected area serves in particular as a breeding and feeding area for threatened and endangered bird species as well as a habitat for mammals in the waters and their banks and as a resting place for Nordic geese.

flora

In terms of flora, the area is a protected site of rare plant species that are threatened and especially in Brandenburg endangered and threatened with extinction, as well as plant communities such as poor wet meadows and extensive reed , large sedge and broken forest communities .
