The Großer and Westufer Kleiner Zeschsee nature reserve is a 107 hectare nature reserve in the southernmost part of the municipal area of ​​the town of Zossen ( Teltow-Fläming district , Brandenburg ). The nature reserve serves to preserve low and spring areas in the Nuthe - Notteniederung . It was established in 1999.

Geographical location

The nature reserve is located in the southern part of the Lindenbrück district of the city of Zossen or on the former boundary of its district of Zesch am See . It includes the Großer Zeschsee , the west bank of the Kleiner Zeschsee and their peripheral areas. The location and boundaries are shown in the topographic map 1: 25,000.

Protection purpose

The ordinance on the nature reserve "Großer and Westufer Kleiner Zeschsee" was issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Regional Planning of the State of Brandenburg on December 14, 1999. The protection purpose is the "preservation of low and spring areas in the regional biotope network within the Nuthe-Notteniederung."

"The protection status therefore serves in particular:

    • Lime-rich swamps with cutting edge ( Cladium mariscus ), bog forests as well as alder and ash forests on flowing waters (remnants) as priority habitat types according to Annex I of Directive 92/43 / EEC of the Council for the conservation of natural habitats as well as wild animals and plants (" Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive ");
    • the preservation of other highly endangered forms of vegetation, plant communities and particularly protected plant species of the springs such as spring meadows and angle-segged alder-ash forest, the rich wet meadows and their stages of dissolution, the standing water, in particular the floating leaf, reed, chandelier algae and spawn communities and the willow bushes;
    • the preservation of the area as a place of refuge and as a potential center of proliferation of endangered animal species and animal species communities such as birds, in particular species bound to bodies of water and wetlands and cave dwellers, as well as amphibians and reptiles;
    • conservation for scientific reasons as an object of landscape-ecological research. "
