background

TechCrunch was founded in 2005 by Michael Arrington . In 2010, TechCrunch was bought by AOL (and has since been absorbed by Verizon Media ). In September 2011, founder and editor-in-chief Arrington left TechCrunch in dispute; since October 2012 Arrington has been writing for TechCrunch again.

TechCrunch Disrupt 2011

Crunchbase , a wiki-based database of Web 2.0 companies, personalities and investors opened in 2007, has been an independent company since 2015 and is no longer affiliated with Techcrunch.

TechCrunch Disrupt

TechCrunch Disrupt is a conference that has been held annually in San Francisco, New York City and Beijing since 2011 and is organized by TechCrunch. Technology startups pitch their products and services in front of venture capital investors, the media and other interested parties for money and attention. Previous winners include: Qwiki , Getaround , YourMechanic and Enigma.io .

criticism

As a well-known website, TechCrunch has received a lot of public attention. TechCrunch employees have occasionally complained of various conflicts of interest. Regardless, allegations of conflicts of interest have never been proven. The duties of the original editor of MobileCrunch Oliver Starr are now performed by several authors. Starr was allegedly dismissed by Arrington because of a conflict of interest arising from Starr's service as a senior mobile analyst for The Guidewire Group. Starr claimed that the dispute arose over payment disputes instead.
