Talk about our love ) is one of Brandy Norwood , Kanye West written, Harold Lilly, Claude Cave II and Carlos, Louis and Ricardo Wilson R & B song can for Brandy's fourth studio album Afrodisiac . The song samples the song published by Mandrill Gilly Hines from 1978 and was released in April 2004 as the album's first single. It sometimes reached number 6 in the British charts and the top 30 in Australia , Ireland and the Netherlands . Producer Kanye West is also represented as a rapper on the song.
Background information
The song was one of two new tracks that Brandy had recorded shortly before the end of the album recordings with producer and songwriter Kanye West and Israeli violinist Miri Ben Ari . Although the title was not initially intended as a single, Talk About Our Love replaced the original lead single Black Pepper produced by Timbaland a few months before the album was released , a decision that Timbaland in particular denounced in a large number of reports and articles.
As Brandy explained after the song's mediocre chart successes at home and abroad, she had planned another title as her first single: The Afrodisiac, composed by Timbaland . Furthermore, she blamed her former manager Benny Medina, from whom Brandy had split up during the album promotion in mid-2004, for the "awkward" single selection.
The song was recorded in 2004 at Record Plant recording studio in Los Angeles , California .
Music video
The music video for Talk About Our Love was directed by Dave Meyers at 6 and 7. March 2004 in Los Angeles , California shot and had its world premiere on March 26th on AOL Music's First Listen Web page. In addition to guest rapper Kanye West, Brandy's younger brother Ray J can also be seen in a cameo towards the end of the video.
The video clip begins with Brandy entering a modern villa and finding her friend (West) in the kitchen. She confronts him with all sorts of rumors about their relationship when suddenly all of the neighbors, friends and relatives appear out of nowhere in the house and witness the scene. Observed, the couple withdraw into the adjoining living room, where they continue their discussion and Brandy and her background dancers begin to dance choreographically. Only a little later the two “reconcile” and try to escape from the house. At the end you see them driving off the road together in a vintage car .
