Afrodisiac (song)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Afrodisiac ( portmanteau of African - and English. Aphrodisiac , aphrodisiac ') is an Urban - Pop -Song the US R & B singer Brandy . The title was written and composed by Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley , Isaac Phillips, Kenisha Pratt and Kenneth Pratt for the fourth studio album of the same name by the singer Afrodisiac .

In September 2004 the track was released as the second international single from the album. Despite little promotion, the song was a medium-sized hit in Europe , Oceania and Asia .

background

Afrodisiac was one of the first songs on the album of the same name . Brandy worked with Kenisha and Kenneth Pratt, two songwriters with whom she worked on previous albums, and new producer Timbaland at the Hit Factory Criteria recording studios in Miami instead of Darkchild , the producer of their third album, Full Moon . The singer called the title her favorite on the album: "You can hear the pursuit of love in the song," Brandy said in an interview with Ebony magazine. "Until now I have never had an aphrodisiac". In terms of content, the track deals with the addiction that a protagonist feels for another person; this person then calls it their personal aphrodisiac .

controversy

The song leaked - as one of three songs on the album - more than half a year before the album was released and was thus an early potential candidate for the lead single of the album of the same name. But when the mid-tempo song Talk About Our Love, produced by Kanye West , was chosen as the first single, Timbaland publicly protested in various magazine interviews against what he believed to be the wrong decision. Even Brandy herself announced that she was dissatisfied with the first single and that her personal first choice would have been the title track of the album. The manager engaged at the time , Benny Medina and the record bosses of Atlantic Records were to blame for the "wrong decision" regarding the first single on the album.
