Right Here (Departed) is an R&B song by the American singer Brandy . The mid-tempo number, written and produced by Rodney Jerkins among others , was released in 2008 as the first single from the studio album Human .

The lead single Right Here (Departed) was recorded late in the production phase of Human . In early June 2008, Rodney Jerkins and Brandy celebrated a musical reunion, because she and her long-term mentor Jerkins had not recorded together for seven years. The song was written by members of the Writing Camp Evan "Kidd" Bogart, Victoria Horn, Erika Nuri and David Quiñones. The song is about "a woman's conversations about mutual support between loved ones".

In autumn 2008, the song began to be released in the United States and Canada , followed by a release in French-speaking countries such as francophone Switzerland , Belgium and France in January 2009 . In March 2009, it was finally published in Scandinavia and in German-speaking countries .
The song had its official world premiere on August 13th on Brandy's official website. On August 25, the title was played for the first time by the US R&B radio stations. The premiere on mainstream radio followed on September 23 . Right Here (Departed) was not available as a physical CD in the US.
Brandy's first single in four years rose to number 83 on the US Billboard Hot 100 on September 27, 2008 , making it the fourth-highest new entry. Although the song fell four ranks the following week, the title slowly rose to the final one Top position 34. The title also managed to position itself in Billboard's genre charts, with the single reaching number 1 on the US dance charts and number 22 on the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop list and the Pop 100 list . In Canada , at number 39, the song became Brandy's highest-ranked single since What about Us? from 2002.
In the German-speaking countries, only one publication, including an advertising campaign, was scheduled for September 12th. However, only one download release followed on the same date. Although the song was in the top 100 national download charts in Austria and Germany from providers such as Amazon , iTunes or musicload , it was not possible to enter the chart due to the chart regulations . In the meantime, however, the title managed to penetrate Switzerland's singles charts to number 54 through downloads on December 7, 2008. When the song - triggered by the briefly canceled publication in Germany - began to move out of the charts again, the song climbed back to position 58 in the Swiss charts at the end of January . At the same time, the single reached the top ten in Switzerland's neighboring country, France . On March 20, 2009, the single was released in Germany and Austria, including a music video premiere on German-language music channels such as MTV or VIVA and two physical CD formats: a maxi single and a 2-track single. There the single reached number 39 or number 27.
