Skurubron (the Skurubrücke) is an arch bridge over the Skurusund in Nacka , northeast of Stockholm . The länsväg 222 runs over the bridge between Stockholm and Gustavsberg , also known as Värmdöleden . Before a permanent bridge connection was created here in 1915, there was only one floating bridge .

The Skurubron consists of two identical, parallel arch structures that were opened to traffic in 1915 and 1957, respectively. The older of the two bridges was inaugurated by King Gustav V in 1915 and, with its 72 meters span and 32 meters height of the main arch, was considered one of the most daring concrete structures in Europe; it was the largest concrete bridge in Northern Europe. The bridge was designed by Axel Björkman and his colleague Tor Kempe and the consulting architect was Lars Israel Wahlman .

In the mid-1880s, Axel Björkman studied, among other things, bridge construction at the Technical University in Darmstadt and then worked as a bridge construction engineer in Duisburg . It was also his construction company, Arcus AB (from Latin arcus "arch") that built the bridge between 1914 and 1915. In 1957 the bridge was doubled, the old part of the bridge being renovated and every other column removed in order to keep the overall slender appearance.

The two side arches have a span of 49 m and a height of 21 m. The width of the lane is 6.7 m.
