Two Eleven or 2/11 is the sixth studio album by the American singer Brandy . The album was released on October 19, 2012.

background

First reports in 2009 indicated that Brandy would produce the long player with The-Dream , Pharrell Williams , Ne-Yo , StarGate , Tricky Stewart. At the time she was still under contract with Epic and also closed a management deal with Jay-Z 's Roc Nation . One of these collaborations was the song "Louboutins", which Jennifer Lopez later released as a single after Brandy split from the record company Epic and shortly thereafter from Roc Nation. After breaking up with Epic, she began working on new songs with producers Sean & Kadis.

In the winter of 2009 Brandy headed for a more hip-hop- heavy sound, with rap interludes from her alter ego Bran'Nu and beats from producer and rapper Timbaland . At the time she was under contract with Knockout Entertainment and placed two of her rap songs on Timbalands Shock Value II . Timbaland was impressed with her rapper skills after watching a rap video she uploaded to YouTube. This led to the collaboration on songs for their sixth album under the label Mosley Music Group. In the end, however, as she said on various talk shows, the singer felt persuaded to act as an MC and regretted it in retrospect. In addition - inspired by the success of her colleague Monica  - the album should be influenced by the "true R&B" of the 1990s and contain songs "from the heart and soul" and "with goose bumps". So she revealed to Rolling-Stone magazine :

“I'm reinventing myself and I feel fearless, (...) I haven't done R&B in a very long time. This album is rooted in R&B. The sound is different, it's about love. It's mature, it's gritty, it's edgy. "

“I reinvent myself and feel fearless, (...) I haven't made R&B music for a long time, but this album has its roots in R&B. The sound is different, it's about love. It is ripe, it is gloomy, it has rough edges. "
