Lykke Li
Lykke Li (born March 18, 1986 in Ystad as Li Lykke Timotej Svensson Zachrisson ) is a Swedish singer . She became known for a remix version of her song I Follow Rivers , which became a summer hit in 2012 .
biography
Lykke Li was born in Ystad as the daughter of the artist couple Kärsti Stiege and Johan Zachrisson . Because of the way her parents lived, she traveled a lot and lived as a child in Nepal, India, Morocco and Portugal, among others. At the age of 19 she decided to move to New York to become a singer. She then moved back to Stockholm and has lived in Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles since 2012 .
Her first album Youth Novels was released on her own label LL Recordings in early 2008 in Sweden and Great Britain and entered the Swedish charts. It was published in the rest of Europe at the beginning of June 2008. The album was produced by Björn Yttling , member of the band Peter Bjorn and John , co-producer was Lasse Mårtén .
The album can be classified in the subgenre Independent . In addition to electronic instruments, piano and guitar, among other things, bell rings , castanets and claves are also used. Li's voice in the slow passages is reminiscent of Stina Nordenstam's . In 2009 she was awarded the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA).
Her second album Wounded Rhymes was released in 2011. The The-Magician remix of I Follow Rivers reached 2011 in Belgium square one. In Germany, the song also became known through its use during broadcasts of the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League and made it into the top 5 of the iTunes charts. In July 2012, the title reached number 1 in the German single charts . At the end of January 2013, the song finally reached number 1 on the Italian singles charts for the first time .
