Stina Nordenstam
Stina Nordenstam (born Kristina Marianne Nordenstam on March 4, 1969 in Stockholm , Sweden ) is a Swedish singer , songwriter and musician .
Career
Music critics compare Nordenstam's voice to Rickie Lee Jones and Björk's . Her albums Memories of a Color and And She Closed Her Eyes are influenced by jazz with elements of alternative rock . The song Little Star from her album And She Closed Her Eyes was used in the film Romeo and Juliet (director: Baz Luhrmann ).
With her 1997 album Dynamite she embarked on a darker and more experimental path. It is mostly produced with distorted electric guitars and unusual beats . In 1998, Nordenstam released her album Peaople Are Strange , on which she reinterpreted cover versions of musicians such as Prince .
In 2001 her album This Is Stina Nordenstam was released , on which the Suede singer Brett Anderson can be heard in two pieces as a guest singer. Her album The World Is Saved (2004) is again dominated by jazz influences.
Nordenstam is considered to be public shy, gives only a few interviews and rarely performs live. For her album covers and magazine photos, she even changes her appearance with wigs and make-up . During her music promotion for The World Is Saved , she gave significantly more interviews than usual and even considered the possibility of future live performances. Apart from the music, Nordenstam is also active as a photographer and as a director of music videos .
