history

The name probably goes back to the Californian laurel ( Umbellularia californica ) growing there , which is also called California bay laurel in English . From 1910 to 1915, the first trolleybus in the United States operated in the Laurel Canyon . On December 14, 1962, when a Lockheed Super Constellation crashed into the residential area, 29 buildings were damaged and all five people on board and three residents were killed. On July 1, 1981, four people were cruelly murdered in the neighborhood. Because of the then well-known porn star John Holmes as Tatverdächtigem the quadruple murder went as Wonderland murders (English Wonderland murders ) in history. In 1982 he was acquitted of the murder charge, the murders have not yet been solved.
