What About Us? is a contemporary R&B song by the American singer and songwriter Brandy . Brandy himself wrote the song with Kenisha Pratt, LaShawn Daniels, Nora Payne and Rodney Jerkins , who also produced the track. In January 2002 it was released as the first single in the United States and as the second single in Europe, after the ballad Another Day in Paradise with brother Ray J from 2001.

"What About Us?" was one of the re-recorded tracks at the end of 2001 that Darkchild produced while finishing the album Full Moon with Brandy in Los Angeles , California . After Jerkins played her the song, Brandy was instantly impressed. She wanted to use the "fancy, aggressive, high-tech track" for the album:
