De la Ghetto

De La Ghetto (born September 17, 1982 in New York ; real name Rafael Castillo ) is a reggaeton musician. His father is Dominican and his mother is Puerto Rican .

Life

De La Ghetto grew up in Seattle, and when he was six he and his parents moved to France . He had his first contact with hip-hop at the age of ten and when his parents separated at the age of 13, he moved with his mother to Puerto Rico , his father stayed in France. In his new home, De La Ghetto was fascinated by the so-called reggaeton . In addition to drugs , weapons and the daily violence (which he also uses in his texts today), music became his daily companion. He had small appearances at so-called block parties. When he wanted to turn the hobby into his work, he tried various Puerto Rican music labels . But since he was unsuccessful, he went back to New York. His mother supported him where she could and also gave him the money for the studio recordings. There he met the then manager of Dr. Dre who helped him with his doctorate. After two more years was label Baby Records of Zion attention to him. He signed him and worked with him on lyrics and music. When De La Ghetto produced the song You're Body with Zion , his career began.

Arcangel y de la Ghetto

At the beginning of his career, De La Ghetto joined forces with Arcángel to form the duo Arcángel y De La Ghetto . This gave his career a boost and with songs like Traficando they became very popular in the Caribbean. In 2006 the duo broke up in a heated argument because Arcangel claimed more money for themselves. In 2008 the two were reconciled and released the album Los Benjamin: Reloaded , after which they decided to continue their careers separately.

Collaboration with Daddy Yankee

Since De La Ghetto took part in the remix of Somos De Calle in 2008, Rafael and Daddy Yankee have often worked together, for example on the song La Senal and Llegamos A La Disco . A collaboration album is planned to be released in mid-2012.

Massacre Musical Inc.

In April 2008 De La Ghetto opened his own label, Massacre Musical In. on the sub-label of Interscope Records are u. a. Cosculluela , Alex Kyza and J-Merk under contract.
