Pro-Música Brasil (Produtores Fonográfico Associados) , until 2016 Associação Brasileira dos Produtores de Discos ( Portuguese for "Brazilian Society of Music Producers"; ABPD for short ), is a collecting society that represents the music industry in Brazil . The association is their only official representation of interests in the country and the Brazilian national group of the IFPI .
Foundation and tasks
The Society for Representing the Interests of the Brazilian Phono Industry was founded in April 1958 in Brazil and is the largest organization in the Brazilian music industry. The association works for the modernization of the music industry there and combats the illegal acquisition and sale of music. For this purpose, the ABPD founded a subsidiary specializing in this topic, the Association for the Protection of the Intellectual Property Rights of the Phonographic Industry , or APDIF for short .
Music sales awards are given based on units sold in the country. Certifications have been awarded since 1990. In November 2017, the award for digital media was incorporated into the previous awards for physical sound carriers.
