Piso 21 is a Colombian Latin pop - / Reggaeton - band from Medellin . Successful in Latin American-speaking countries including the United States for a long time, the band became known in the rest of the world through the single Oh Child with Robin Schulz .
Band history
Piso 21 consists of Pablo Mejía ( Pablito ), Juan David Huertas ( El Profe ), David Escobar ( Dim ) and Juan David Castaño ( El Llane ). The name, translated "floor 21", refers to a building in her hometown of Medellín that had 21 floors. On the 21st floor there is a 360 ° view of the city. There they composed their first songs.
The group was founded in 2007, but only became successful in 2012. In that year, their self-titled debut album was released via the Stars Arsis Entertainment Group . With the album they were nominated for a Latin Grammy in the "Best New Group" category, but the award went to 3Ball MTY .
In 2014 the single Suele Suceder was released , together with Nicky Jam . The song was a huge commercial success in Latin America and their first chart entry ever and also reached the US Tropical songs forex charts of Billboard .
More singles followed in 2015. However, their final breakthrough came in 2016 when they were signed by Warner Music Latina and the single Me llamas , featuring with Maluma , hit the top of the Colombian streaming charts. The single sold successfully in Argentina and Spain, where it went quadruple platinum. In Italy the single reached gold status. The successor singles Besándote with Anne-Marie and Déjala que vuelva with Manuel Turizo were similarly successful.
In 2018 they released their second album Ubuntu through Warner Music Latina. The album reached number 13 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart .
They became known on the German-speaking market through the song Oh Child , which they recorded together with Robin Schulz. The song reached position 19 in the German single charts in Germany . In the official German dance top 20, the single reached position 7. In addition, Oh Child was placed in the daily evaluations of the German iTunes charts for several days and reached its highest rating on June 23, 2018 with position 39. In Austria the single reached position 39 and in the Swiss hit parade position 84.
