Anne-Marie Rose Nicholson (born April 7, 1991 in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex ) is a British singer who became known through her collaboration with the British pop duo Rudimental .

biography

Life

Anne-Marie's father is Irish and her mother is from Essex. At the age of six she appeared on the stage of the West End Theater in the play The Sorrows of Victor Hugo . When she was twelve, she was on the same stage with Jessie J in Whistle Down the Wind .

Since the age of nine she practiced Shotokan karate and won double gold at the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association World Cup 2002, gold and silver in 2007 and gold at the British Traditional Karate Federation National Championships. Among other things, she attended Palmer's College in Thurrock.

Career

In 2013 she recorded the demo Summer Girl , which she broadcast on Rocket Records. Several artists became aware of her and brought her to the studio as a guest musician, so she could be heard as a feature on songs by Magnetic Man , Gorgon City and Raized By Wolves , until she finally got the attention of the British pop band Rudimental . She invited her as a guest member for her upcoming tour and offered her a record deal with her label Major Tom. She was also featured on four tracks on her studio album, two of which were co-features with Dizzee Rascal . The collaboration Rumor Mill reached number 67 on the UK singles chart. She toured with Rudimental for two years.

Her debut EP Karate was released on Rudimentals record label. Two songs were extracted from it as a single, Karate and Gemini . In November 2015 she released Do It Right , which landed at number 90 on the UK singles chart. In 2016, her single, Alarm, was number 76 on the UK singles chart for a week before re-entering a month later and climbing to number 16 on the charts. With the song she was able to place herself in the charts in around 20 countries. In October 2016 she confirmed that she would be participating in Eurosonic Noorderslag in the Netherlands. In October 2016, Clean Bandit released their song Rockabye , whose lead vocals were taken on by Anne-Marie. Sean Paul also contributed vocals. The musicians achieved the top ranking in over 20 countries.

In February 2017 she released the song Ciao Adios . The single reached number ninth in the UK and the top 10 in Belgium, Poland and Scotland. Between May 2017 and June 2017, Anne-Marie released the collaboration singles Either Way with Snakehips and Joey Badass and Remember I Told You with Nick Jonas and Mike Posner , which hit the UK charts. Heavy followed as another single in September 2017 . The song Then was released in December 2017. Both reached a placement in the British single charts. In February 2018 she released a collaboration with American DJ and producer Marshmello called Friends . In April 2018 she released the song in 2002 from the album Speak Your Mind . On October 1, 2018, the singer published her tour dates for the Speak Your Mind Tour , with which she toured across five continents.
