Gorgon City is a DJ - duo from London consisting of Kye Gibbon ( "Foamo") and Matt Robson-Scott ( "Rack N Ruin"). They play a mix of deep house , garage , soul and pop music .
history
Gibbon and Robson-Scott had worked as independent music producers for a number of years before they got together in February 2012 and released their first EP The Crypt . It was released on the London independent label Black Butter Records (including Rudimental ). A year later, the second EP Real came out there. Their title song, a collaboration with the British DJ and songwriter Yasmin Shahmir, brought Gorgon City to the UK charts for the first time and helped them achieve their breakthrough.
In the summer of 2013, Gorgon City released the single Intentions produced with Clean Bandit . They toured the United States and entered Australia in the opening act on by Rudimental. In January 2014, the house single Ready for Your Love (with vocals by MNEK ) was released, which reached number 4 on the UK charts. She also entered the German single charts . The single Here for You , released in May with Laura Welsh, was similarly successful .
On October 6, 2014, Gorgon City released their debut album Sirens , a joint venture between Black Butter and Virgin EMI Records . The deluxe edition contains 17 songs, in addition to Ready for Your Love and Here for You, among others, features by Maverick Saber ( Coming Home , Hard on Me ), Katy B ( Lover Like You ), Jennifer Hudson ( Go All Night ), Katy Menditta ( Imagination ) and Zak Abel ( Unmissable ). The album made it into the top 10 of the UK charts, as did the previously released singles Ready for Your Love and Here for You . Go All Night rose to # 1 on Billboard Dance Club Songs.
Gorgon City then performed again at various concerts and festivals, including in April 2015 at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival .
On April 27, 2015 Virgin EMI Records released the album Sirens - The Remixes , on which ten remixes of five songs from the debut album can be heard. They have been reinterpreted by DJ Anna, Huxley, Booka Shade , CLOSE, Etherwood, Weiss, Deetron , Bearcubs, Drew Hill and Mak & Pasteman. The album also contains Gorgon City remixes of the songs Hideaway by Kiesza and Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware .
