Maverick Saber (born July 12, 1990 in London ; real name Michael Stafford ) is a British rapper.

Career

Michael Stafford was born in Hackney , East London , and grew up in Wexford, Ireland . He started playing guitar at the age of eight and later made a name for himself on the Irish hip hop scene. He also got appearances in the supporting act among others by The Game , Lloyd Banks and Lethal Bizzle at their concerts in Ireland. Plan B finally brought him back to London at the age of 17, where he also made a name for himself and got a record deal with Mercury Records in 2010 . As a guest on the single Jungle by Professor Green , he had a first chart success, while his own free mixtape The Traveling Man was praised by critics. His own debut single Look What I've Done was released in March 2011. Another feature along with Green on the Single In the Air by True Tiger meant his second chart entry.

Maverick Saber made the breakthrough in the summer of 2011 with the song Let Me Go , which made it into the top 20 of the UK charts . The next top 20 single followed with I Need . His debut album Lonely Are the Brave was released in February 2012.

At the 2012 Brit Awards , he took 2nd place in the Critics' Choice Award .
