Lloyd Banks
Lloyd Banks (born April 30, 1982 in Baltimore ; real name Christopher Charles Lloyd ) is an American rapper .
biography
Banks grew up in the New York borough of Queens . His father was a Puerto Rican and his mother was an African American .
Banks began to write poetry at an early age - mostly poetry and some unstructured narratives. His lyrics were mainly influenced by rappers Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick . However, Banks did not get along with school, so he dropped out of high school before his 16th birthday. But the initially unstructured writing turned into writing rhymes. At first he wrote and rapped just for himself, until he had the courage to rap in his neighborhood.
Banks performed at a few local rap competitions and became one of the most famous non-contract rappers in his neighborhood. Baltimore-born Lloyd Banks only joined G-Unit later because he was considered too young when the group was founded. He didn't get the shot until 50 Cent was shot and Banks turned out to be a good friend in this situation.
Lloyd Banks worked there on many mixtapes and released his first solo album The Hunger for More in 2004 . His first single On Fire rose to number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 . It also achieved the single gold status in the United States. The album topped the Billboard 200 for two weeks, selling over 465,000 in the first week and 164,000 in the second. To date, the album has sold 1.8 million copies in the United States and over four million copies worldwide. Lloyd Banks' father died in 2006. His second solo album Rotten Apple was released on October 6, 2006 in Europe and on October 10 in the rest of the world . It reached number three on the US charts with over 143,000 CDs sold in the first week. The album sold over 350,000 copies in the United States. The first single Hands Up rose to number 20 in the single charts in Germany . His third album, called HFM 2 - The Hunger for More 2 , reached number 26 on the US charts and sold about 49,000 times in the United States in its first week of sales. To date, the album has sold 210,000 copies in the United States and over 400,000 worldwide. The lead single Beamer, Benz or Bentley achieved gold status for more than 500,000 sales in the United States.
In 2018, Banks left the G-Unit .
