biography

youth

Olivia Longott was born in February 1981 to a Cuban father and a Jamaican mother in Brooklyn, New York . The family later moved to Jamaica, Queens, where Longott immediately began singing in the church choir. Later she received both guitar and piano lessons .

Career

Longott's career began in 1999 when she became the first woman to be signed to Clive Davis' record label J Records. 2001 saw her debut album Olivia , from which the singles Bizounce and Are You Capable come. Because of the mediocre success of the album, Olivia's contract with J Records was canceled.

In 2003 Longott joined the crew G-Unit and was heard on their albums Beg for Mercy and on 50 Cents second album The Massacre . Alongside 50 Cent, their biggest hit also succeeded: the single Candy Shop , produced together with Scott Storch , which reached number 1 on the German , Austrian , Swiss and US American Billboard single charts in March 2005 .

The release of Longott's first album on G Unit Records has been postponed several times. After the dates were set for June, August and September 2005 and the beginning of 2006, the release was postponed to 2007. The collaboration with G Unit ended in spring 2007. The planned album was no longer released.
