Fally Ipupa
Fally Ipupa Nsimba (born December 14, 1977 in Kinshasa ) is a Congolese singer , dancer and music producer . He first appeared as a member of Koffi Olomide's band Quartier Latin International and started a successful solo career in 2006.
Life
Fally Ipupa Nsimba grew up in a musical, Catholic family and sang in a church choir. He performed in many smaller musical orchestras before he caught the attention of Koffi Olomide, one of the most important Congolese musicians. When he left the “New City” group, he joined the “Latent Talent” group and then, under Olomide's leadership, became a member of the Quartier Latin International group .
Latin Quarter International
In 1999 he joined the Quartier Latin International group , led by Koffi Olomide. Shortly thereafter, thanks to his talent, he became the head of Quartier Latin International . Ipupa gained more and more popularity and proved herself in dancing and singing. Despite his success within the group, Ipupa left the group to pursue a solo career.
Solo career
In 2006, Ipupa released his solo album Droit Chemin , which was produced by David Monsoh, the founder of Obouo Music.
In 2007 Ipupa won the Kora Awards for Best Artist or Group from Central Africa. His second album, Arsenal de Belles Melodies (A2BM) was released in 2009. In 2010 he was awarded the MTV Africa Music Awards 2010 for Best Video for Sexy Dance . He also won the Urban Awards for Best African Artist. Ipupa was nominated for Best Live Act at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2014. He achieved his breakthrough with the song Chaise Electrique in collaboration with the singer Olivia .
In April 2013 Ipupa signed a contract for three albums with Universal (Label AZ) , one of the largest record companies in the world. David Monsoh, who was still Ipupa's producer at the time, stated that Ipupa had signed this contract with Universal without his knowledge and consent and despite a still existing contract.
Controversy
Ipupa is considered to be related to Félix Tshisekedi , the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo . When he wanted to give a concert in Paris on February 28, 2020 , there were massive protests by opposition activists around the Gare-de-Lyon .
