Youssoupha
Youssoupha (* 29. August 1979 in Kinshasa as Youssoupha Mabiki ) is a French rapper with Senegalese and Congolese roots.
biography
Due to the civil war in his native Zaire, today's Democratic Republic of the Congo, he fled to France with his mother at the age of ten. There he grew up in the Parisian banlieue , in the Val-d'Oise .
Like so many young people in the French suburbs, he was enthusiastic about hip hop. So he began to write texts for the first time at the age of 14. After a feature on a compilation of underground artists, he founded the crew Frères Lumières with other rappers in 1998 . With her he brought out the single Etre né quelque part , which was unsuccessful. Youssoupha, who had meanwhile graduated from high school, decided to put his music career on hold and go to university.
In 2003 he returned to the music business and started the Bana Kin project . Under this name he brings out the album Tendance with other Congolese rappers , in which he pays tribute to the culture and music of his native country. A year later he joined the 3ème Underground collective . He also worked as a solo artist on the side, signing with Bomayé Musik , the label of his friend Philo. In 2005 he released his first solo album Eternel Recommencement there , which was promptly nominated for Street Album of the Year. He then signed with the Hostile label after his previous label had joined.
Some impressive features followed before his mixtape avant l'album was released at the end of 2006 . The critics were certain and named Youssoupha one of the most hopeful talents in French rapeseed. His debut album with Hostile was A chaque frère , which was released in spring 2007. The fuss over its previous working title Négritude caused public interest to skyrocket, which is why the album was a great success. Afterwards, Youssoupha took a break in his homeland, but always remained present with various features.
At the beginning of 2009 he then returned extremely furious and was able to land a hit with the single La vie est speed for the film Fast and Furious 4 . At the end of the same year, his second album, Sur les chemins du retour , was released, which again received positive reviews. In mid-2011 he rang in the wait for his next album Noir désir with the street album En noir & blanc (En attendant Noir Désir) , which was released in 2012 under the title Noir d **** and is his most commercially successful album to date.
