2Face Idibia

2Face Ibidia (born September 18, 1976 in Jos ; real name Innocent Ujah Idibia ) is a Nigerian hip-hop musician and songwriter. Until its dissolution, he was a member of the R&B / hip-hop group Plantashun Boyz .

Early years

Idibia comes from the Idoma people in the southern part of the state of Benue in central Nigeria . He briefly attended the Institute of Management & Technology (IMT) in Enugu , one of the highest educational institutions in the country, where he began an undergraduate degree (National Diploma) in Business Administration.

However, he did not graduate and chose to work on his musical skills by performing on shows and at parties sponsored by the IMT and a few other institutions such as Enugu State University of Science & Technology and the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus were organized. His breakthrough came with the jingles he wrote and sang for the well-known radio show GB Fan Club on Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) in 1996 . Then he moved to Lagos and began working with his former IMT comrades BlackFace and Faze, with whom he then formed the Plantashun Boyz. In 1996 he started calling himself 2Face . The name denotes the outer and inner side: "When you see me first, you see the outer side, but when you get to know me, you see the inner side," he said in a BBC interview.

In 2005, 2Face won the first-ever Best African Artist category at the MTV Europe Music Awards . The rapper also received a nomination for Best African Act at the MOBO Awards .
