Disaster Monitoring Constellation
The Disaster Monitoring Constellation ( DMC ) is a constellation (a network) of earth observation satellites . All satellites in the constellation were built by the British small satellite manufacturer Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL). The SSTL subsidiary DMC International Imaging (DMCii) coordinates the operation of the satellites and markets their data. As a member of the International Charter for Space and Natural Disasters , DMCii makes the data of the constellation available for disaster relief free of charge if required .

All first generation satellites were launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome with Kosmos 3M rockets . The second generation satellites started with the Dnepr from the Baikonur Cosmodrome (2009) and the Jasny Cosmodrome (2011), and the third with a PSLV from the Satish Dhawan Space Center . Together with NigeriaSat-2, the earth observation satellite NigeriaSat-X was brought into space, but the SSTL does not list it as a former or existing member of the Disaster Monitoring Constellation.
