Beg for Mercy (in German: " plea for mercy ") is the debut album of American hip-hop group G-Unit , consisting of the rappers 50 Cent , Lloyd Banks , Young Buck and Tony Yayo . It was released on November 14, 2003 on the G-Unit Records and Interscope Records labels .
background
After the huge success of 50 Cent's first album Get Rich or Die Tryin ' , he founded his own label, G-Unit Records. Shortly thereafter, rappers Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck joined the G Unit. The popularity of 50 Cent raised interest in this group. Together they then recorded the album Beg for Mercy . Problematic was that Tony Yayo was imprisoned at the time because he had illegal weapons and a forged passport. That's why he's only featured on the songs Groupie Love and I Smell Pussy . Thematically, the album is mostly about guns, women and drugs.
Cover design
The album cover shows Lloyd Banks, 50 Cent and Young Buck, dressed in black and looking seriously at the viewer. In the left background Tony Yayo can be seen as graffiti on a house wall. The lettering G Unit and Beg for Mercy are located in the top left of the picture in white or gray.
Guest Posts
In addition to the rappers of the G Unit, other artists are represented on four songs. The singer Tracie Spencer is involved in the songs G-Unit and Eye for Eye , while the singer Joe can be heard on Wanna Get to Know You . In addition, the singer Butch Cassidy has a guest appearance on Groupie Love .

Stefan Johannesberg from laut.de rated Beg for Mercy with three out of a possible five points. 50 Cent's concept of "putting every hookline, every chorus over the tracks on your own" would wear out over time. In addition, Young Buck cannot quite keep up with the others, as his texts “don't really get stuck” and the flow “gets bored quickly”.
