DJ Khalil
DJ Khalil (real name Khalil Abdul-Rahman) is an American music producer from Los Angeles .
Life
DJ Khalil grew up in Los Angeles as the son of NBA player Mahdi Abdul-Rahman , who was a great jazz lover. This is how Khalil came into contact with music early in his life. As a result, he got involved in DJing a lot and finally decided to try his hand at producing, influenced by Pete Rock , DJ Premier and Ali Shaheed Muhammad , who were all both DJs and produced. Soon after, he also met Chace Infinite , whom he met while playing basketball. With him he founded the group Self Scientific .
Khalil's productions finally caught the attention of Dr. Dre when he heard Khalil's beats on a demo recording by the musician Brooklyn . Dre then hired him for the production team of his label Aftermath Entertainment . This allowed him to work with many well-known artists and cemented his position in the scene.
Khalil is also part of The New Royales , an alternative band that combines rock music with hip-hop .
