G-Unit Records is an American hip hop - music label , which in 2003 by 50 Cent and his manager Sha Money XL was founded. The label is a subsidiary of Interscope Records . After the success of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin ' , 50 Cent founded the label to release music from his group G Unit . Its former members Lloyd Banks , Tony Yayo and Young Buck also signed record contracts as solo artists with the label.

The first release was the G-Unit album Beg for Mercy , which sold over six million copies worldwide and was awarded double platinum by the RIAA . By 2008, nine albums were released on G-Unit Records (2 × G-Unit, 2 × Lloyd Banks, 2 × Young Buck, 1 × The Game, 1 × Mobb Deep, 1 × Tony Yayo).

After The Game left the label - he released his debut album The Documentary here - Spider Loc was re-signed. In 2005 the New York rap duo Mobb Deep announced that they would be releasing on G-Unit Records in the future. Their contractual relationship was terminated in 2009 after an album. With MOP , another formation was added to the record label in 2005. Like Mobb Deep, MOP left G-Unit Records in 2009 due to artistic differences.

The R'n'B singer Olivia was also under contract with G-Unit from 2003 to 2007, but did not release an album. Since then, G-Unit Records has had no other female artists.

In 2010 50 Cent tried to expand the direction of his label beyond musical artists by hiring comedian Young Jack Thriller and looking for other authors. In March 2011, G-Unit Records signed another rapper, Shawty Lo .
