MOP (Mash Out Posse-also known as "Em dot, O, dot, Pe" or "MO P") is an American rap - duo from Brownsville , a district of Brooklyn in New York City . It consists of Lil 'Fame and Billy Danze. The two rappers have not been under contract with any record label since February 2008 .

Career

With the first three albums To the Death , Firing Squad and First Family 4 Life , MOP made a name for itself in the New York underground scene . With the 2000 released album Warriorz (produced by DJ Premier ) the duo made their breakthrough. The album included the songs Ante Up and Cold as Ice , a cover version of the 1977 hit Foreigner .

The next album or mixtape "Marxmen Cinema" followed in 2004 as a double CD. In the same year Mash Out Posse was released , a rock and metal album with hip-hop elements, which was judged rather critically.

In June 2005 MOP switched to G-Unit Records. A first album should be released in May 2006 through this label, which also looks after 50 Cent . A compilation with Mobb Deep (also on G-Unit) was in discussion. The album or mixtape Salutes the St. Marxmen , released in 2005, was very well received in the scene, not least because of the prominent support of rap greats like Jay-Z . The two musicians could not achieve commercial success with this album.

The so far last album Ghetto Warfare was released in July 2006 by Copppertop Entertainment and contains older recordings from the times with Roc-A-Fella-Records. The reason for this is that the album was supposed to be released around 2003. The release date has been postponed several times and should be completely canceled at times.

Critics say the duo's music does not suit the taste of the vast majority, but that was not the intention either. Quote: “Fuck the fame! I agree, fuck the fame / But I've got four words for ya: Don't fuck with (lil ') Fame ” from the song G-Building from the album Warriorz . That is why the lyrics mainly address problems on the street and are not, like many other rap lyrics, about "hot girls" and money.

After three years without a release, MOP left G-Unit Records due to creative differences. Brooklyn Crew manager Laze Elliot confirmed this to a hip-hop website. The separation, however, was amicable.

In 2009 the album Foundation was released . In 2011 the long player Sparta followed , a collaboration with the Snowgoons on Babygrande Records.
