Peter "Pete" Tong , MBE (born July 31, 1960 in Dartford ) is an English DJ who works for BBC Radio 1 .
Live and act
Pete Tong was best known for the radio show Essential Mix , a weekly music show on BBC Radio 1 that supports all styles of electronic dance music. The show has been moderated by him since 1992. His concept has remained the same over the years: Pete Tong presents the most important releases from England in the fields of house and techno.
In the early 1990s, Pete Tong released various CD series and managed up to six editions within a year.
For years he has been hosting his Wonderland parties in Ibiza . Since 2008 these have taken place in the Eden in San Antonio . Tong is dedicated to the film title It's All Gone Pete Tong .
In 2014 he was inducted into the Order of the British Empire .
His album Classic House , recorded with the Heritage Orchestra , reached number one in the UK charts .
