Prince Royce (* 11. May 1989 in New York , civic Geoffrey Royce Rojas ) is an American Latin pop singer.

Career

Geoffrey Royce Rojas is the son of immigrants from the Dominican Republic . At the age of 20 he released his debut album with his stage name Prince Royce as the title. With an English-Spanish version of the classic Stand by Me by Ben E. King he already attracted a lot of attention at the end of 2009 and thus entered the top ten of the Latin charts. His second single Corazon sin cara even reached number 1 on this chart. His debut album, which sold hesitantly at first, rose to number 77 on the Billboard 200 charts and stayed in the top 200 for over 40 weeks. It sold over three million times and was awarded 3 × platinum .

The following year he sang the song El verdadero amor perdona with the Mexican band Maná, which put it back at number one on the Latin charts. Another collaboration that year, Ven conmigo with Daddy Yankee , was another top ten hit. His third leader followed another year later with Las cosas pequeñas . It was the first single from his second album Phase II , which reached number 16 in the official sales charts in 2012 and was again a million seller (platinum). With Incondicional and Te me vas it contained two more hit singles, both of which reached number two on the Latin charts.

Before releasing his third studio album, Prince Royce moved to Sony Music . Soy el mismo was published internationally in 2013 and was also successful in Spain, for example. In the US Latin charts it was his third number one album and with number 14 on the Billboard 200 he reached his highest ranking to date. It was also awarded platinum. The single Darte un beso was also particularly successful , his fourth Latin number one, which stayed in the official US single charts for twelve weeks. She received an award of 3 × platinum.

After a quieter year, he returned to the charts in 2015 with collaborations with US rap and R&B musicians. At the beginning of the year he reached number 43 on the Hot 100 together with Snoop Dogg and the single Stuck on a Feeling , his best position in the official charts to date. Another chart success came in the summer with Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull and the song Back It Up . His new album Double Vision was released on July 24, 2015 . In advance he released some of the songs that are on the album.

Royce has had a relationship with actress Emeraude Toubia since 2011, but it wasn't officially confirmed until April 2016.

Songs by Prince Royce (Darte un beso, Deja Vu) are often and happily played at Bachata parties all over the world, at which he also appears from time to time.
