Farruko, 2014

Farruko (born May 2, 1991 in Bayamón , real name Carlos Efrén Reyes Rosado ) is a Puerto Rican reggaeton musician, who became known through his album Talento del Bloque and through collaborations with artists such as Daddy Yankee .

Career

Farruko was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He began his career on MySpace at the age of 16, where he was able to build a fan base. His first big hit on MySpace was Sexo Fuera del Planeta , which brought him a large number of followers. He then started using other social networks . That's how he got the attention of Puerto Rican radio. The record company Siente noticed him and signed him. At the age of just 18, he released his debut album El Talento del Bloque there in 2010 , which reached number 50 on the US Billboard Latin Charts . For his self-written songs, he was able to win musicians such as José Feliciano , Cosculluela and Julio Voltio as guests. The non-album track Pa Romper la Discoteca , which he released with Daddy Yankee and Yomo , also became a hit .

In 2012 his second work, The Most Powerful Rookie , was released, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy . Tours of Latin America and the United States followed. In 2014, his third album, Farruko Presenta los Menores , followed, which not only reached number 1 on the Latin album charts, but also entered the Billboard 200 (number 90) for the first time. J. Balvin , Luigi 21+ and Arcángel can be heard on the album . With the song 6 AM he won the 2015 Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Performance and Best Urban Song . Collaborations with musicians like Yandel , Alejandra Guzmán , Shaggy and Nicky Jam followed .

His fourth album Visionary followed in 2015 , which also topped the Latin album charts. 2017 finally appeared TrapXFicante and 2019. Gangalee , all in the top five boarded the Latin charts. He became known in Germany for On My Way , a feature with music producers Alan Walker and Sabrina Carpenter , which reached number 85 in the German single charts. In 2019 he also attracted attention with Pedro Capó . He was featured on the remix of Calma , which was traded as the summer hit 2019 worldwide. He had another potential summer hit alongside Jason Derulo on the song Mamacita .

Music genre

Farruko is a new school reggaeton artist. Very early on he combined reggae with elements of EDM , dancehall and pop. In the course of time, trap elements were also added, although otherwise he has few hip-hop elements in his music.
