The Jacksonville Tomcats were an arena football team from Jacksonville, Florida that played in af2 . The Tomcats played their home games at the Jacksonville Colliseum .

history

The Tomcats were founded in 2000 and started as one of the fifteen participating  franchises  in the newly founded  af2  in 2000.

Her debut season was both athletically and financially successful for the franchise. With nine wins from sixteen games, the Tomcats reached the postseason, but lost in the first round 28:41 against the Norfolk Nighthawks . An average of 8,258 spectators came to the home games and were therefore in the top 5 of the league in terms of audience numbers.

The playoffs were missed in the next two seasons. The average audience dropped by almost 25%, which ultimately cost the owners hundreds of thousands of dollars.

At the end of 2002 the franchise was finally dissolved.

Well-known players included Anthony Bright and Micah Ross , both of whom had NFL experience.

From the 2010 season, a second franchise should move into Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Sharks played in the Arena Football League (AFL).
