The Norfolk Nighthawks were an arena football team from Norfolk, Virginia that played in af2 . The Nighthawks played their home games in the Norfolk Scope .
history
The Nighthawks were founded in 1999 and started as one of the fifteen participating franchises in the newly founded af2 in 2000. Owners were the two multiple NFL pro bowlers Kenny Easley and Bruce Smith .
The first game in franchise history was lost on April 8, 2000 at the Tennessee Valley Vipers with 15:48. At the end of the season there were 10 wins and 6 defeats to book, which meant the move into the playoffs. In the first round, the Jacksonville Tomcats were defeated. Only in the semi-finals did they have to admit defeat to the Quad City Steamwheelers 27:75.
The postseason was missed in each of the following three seasons.
After the 2003 season, the Nighthawks were disbanded.
