history

The Steamwheelers were founded in 1999 by Jim Foster and participated in the af2 for the 2000 season.

In her first season in 2000 she was able to win the title, the ArenaCup , against the Tennessee Valley . Also in 2001 they defended the title, this time against the Richmond Speed . During this period, the Steamwheelers were able to get 24 victories in a row. This is the longest winning streak in af2's history.

In the 2002 season Quad City reached the playoffs again, but were disqualified because management violated the salary cap requirement .

Except for 2006 and 2009 you could move into the playoffs in every season. The Arena Cup final was never reached.

When the af2 disbanded after the 2009 season, the Quad City Steamwheelers also disbanded. Although the Steamwheelers considered taking part in the Indoor Football League (IFL), which was only founded in 2008 , the plans were never put into practice. The inclusion in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the 2010 season was also in the room.
